use every part of the deer are an Ottawa-based alt-folk duo made up of ex-Winnipeggers Matt McLennan and Susanna Wiens. Matt and Susanna met in late 2004 when they were seated next to each other on an airplane.

They mine such North American musical traditions as gospel, bluegrass, classic country, and punk. They're the band that's too folk for the punk shows, and too punk for the folk shows.
